Winfast TV2000 XP RM installation problems on windows 2000

I recently purchased Winfast TV2000 XP RM card for my PC after checking the required specs online.

I am running Windows 2000 from an older PC that has an 800 MHz pentium 3 processor, 512k of Ram and Intel D815EEA motherboard with onboard video. When I tried to install the card after using the installation CD I kept recieving an error saying new hardware device found. In device manager this appeared as a yellow question mark with the caption "PCI Device".

However the four necessary drivers for the card were installed under Sound, Video and Game Controllers.

I tried to reboot the PC and the error came up immediately as you would expect. I did some digging around online and found that the drivers on the CD were probably out of date so go to the leadtek website and download the latest. I did this and also downloaded the uninstall tool as recommended. (Uninstalltv2000). I then rebooted my PC. When it started it up I found all my hardware drivers had been wiped. I re-installed them all and then installed the drivers from the Website.

The result was the same, an unidentifed PCI device in my device manager.

I have not progressed with my installation any further at this point. Incidently I have also changed PCI slots but to no avail.

Can someone please clarify why this problem is occuring and let me know what I need to do to rectify it if possible. Thanks

Check and post the "Hardware IDs" of the "Unknow device" from Windows device manager.

What other cards do you have on your computer on PCI slots? Maybe a sound blaster?
The device without drivers that you mentioned has nothing to do with the Leadtek tuner if all the 4 tuner devices were correctly installed in Sound Video and Game Controllers.

Hi there,

In device manager as above. I have a yellow ? labelled other device. When I branch down under that it has another yellow ? labelled PCI device.

When I right click on that and enter properties as above as it comes up with a window saying

There is not a details button in device manager on windows 2000. The only other PCI card I have at the moment is a Modem which is working fine. I do intend getting a sound card.

I still believe that the device mentioned above may have something to do with the tv card as when I ran the uninstaller untility from ledteak it removed this item. Maybe a coincidence I am not sure. Thanks for the replies

Try to delete that from the device manager. Go to the yello marked PCI device and press del. After that restart the computer and see if the unknown device appeared again with a yello mark.

Check and post the "Hardware IDs" in the "Detail" property page of the "PCI Device" from Windows device manager.
For example, the "Hardware IDs" of "Multimedia Video Controller" :

In my last post I left you all the details I got from device manager. As below,

I do not have a details button in windows 2000 so that was all I could get.

I deleted the device as suggested, but when I rebooted it simply said "found new hardware" " PCI device". So the problem still remains. What I have done is download a program from the internet called Unknown Device Identifier. Here is the info from a scan that I ran with this product. I believe the item listed as PC device
will be the one.
